七十份公產

The 3rd generation was also when they started the "70-share property"(七十份公產) way of developing the Shen-Tzu island. This "joint venture" was also called Li, Fu-fa (李復發號) company. This was during 1880 and this company was a non-governmental effort. The partners had to fight for their own territory besides working in the fields for agricultural production.

The 4th Generation

This is the 4th generation of our family - Li, Chen-wan and Chen, Yu (李成萬/陳幼). Chen,Yu: 1887/09/01~1965/04/09. She was wedded to Chen-wan, who died very young (37 y/o) of an epidemic of Cholera. Because of Chen-yu's intelligence and perseverance, the single-mom family with two young boys (12 and 8 y/o) survived the harsh fate and prospered to this date.

The epidemic, which killed 10+ people in our village and a casualty of 2800 people in Taiwan. This was during 1928. It was also a historial epidemic in the history of public health in Taiwan.

Mysterious tomb

This is a tomb of an unknown ancestor. But we have been paying respect to her (this was proved by exhuming the relics years ago due to a dispute with one other group of people who also claimed this to be theirs, we won this dispute because they thought it's a "he"). She is probably the wife or the daughter-in-law of Bo-fa (the 1st gen.).

The 3rd Generation

This is the 3rd generation in Taiwan. Ma-Ju (李媽助)was the husband of Yang, Lien(楊嶺). Three sons descended from them, namely, Ge-Pai (李枝沛), Fu-shen (李福生) and Chen-wan (李成萬), from old to young. Our family decended from Chen-wan branch.

The oldest son - Ge-Pai, was adopted because this couple (李媽助/楊嶺) was not able to rasie their own newborn alive in their first few attempts. But they gave live-birth to two other sons a few years after the adoption of Ge-Pai. Isn't it nice?

He was named as such (helped by mother?) because he was raised by a single mom and the life was harsh beyond imagination. This mother who suffered a lot but managed to raise her sons is Chen, Je (陳錐).

The 2nd Generation

This is the 2nd generation of our family in Taiwan - Song-Ho and Chen Je (李松侯/陳錐). Song-ho was a son of Li, Bo-Fa. He left his family for unclear reason when the children were still small.

More about 陳錐 ("Je/錐" means "cute" in Taiwanese)
She was the mother of Ma-ju (李媽助) and the wife of Song-ho. She lost her husband young due to unclear reason. It is said that since Song-ho joined some salt-trafficking business and had to escape to Wan-dan (萬丹, 屏東). He was remarried there with children before he eventually died there.

Life were harsh after the husband desserted the rest of the family. Ma-ju (the son) had several still-borns and was told that this is due to his father's unresting soul. He had to walk 1+ months to collect his father's relics and returned them back to Taipei (Ma-ju is about 40 years old at that time) . He assisted someone who took an examination(科舉) in Tainan with their luggages and thus earned his living through the trip. This event happened at the time Ge-Pai (李枝沛) was adopted as a newborn, some time between 1875~1878.


This is a branch of the 2nd generation. He was the 2nd son of Bo-fa (李伯發). Our direct ancestor is the 3rd son of Bo-fa - Song-ho (李松侯). Since San-yi (李三益) and Song-ho were both bureid here in Taipei, also that the younger brother of Bo-fa is here, we thus think Bo-fa is the direct ascendant of our family.

The 1st Generation

This is the 1st Generation of our family (開支祖). His name is Li, Bo-Fa (李伯發). Who is said to be born in 1790's and migrated to Taiwan in around 1810. Starting from him, our family has immigrated from Di-Shan (兌山,福建) to Taiwan for alomst 200 years!

It can be stipulated that the life in mainland two centuries ago must be very tough and our 1st generation ancestors had to be very adventurous to take on the boat trip to Taiwan.

清明 of 2005

On a hot and clear day close to Chin-Ming festival (2005/04/10), we took out on the trip to pay repsect to our ancestors. Under the guidance of my 3rd uncle - 李木火 (6th generation).
